Both emotionally stirring and provocative, My Heart Is Love is the second LP from East-Coast collaborative brainchild Aligning Minds. The nine track album, due for release January 29th via Gravitas Recordings, is a finely tuned venture evoking imagery of an ethereal future-city. While no two tracks sound the same, Aligning Minds does a beautiful job stitching together this sundry collection of songs seamlessly and in an engaging way. Perfectly blended sections of classic electro and intricate breaks merge with vaporous psychedelic synth-scapes, causing genre lines to blur as the countless influences wash through.

Brooding and enigmatic, the seductive organic percussion forms a dense fog of deep introspection and warmth. Subtle melodies dance and careen off bubbling bass and high synth walls. In anticipation of the XAVL event on December 15 @ ISIS MUSIC HALL we sat down with TheAVL.com to discuss our involvement in the X Culture collective.
Aligning Minds will perform at Asheville's first XAVL event (12/15/12 at Isis Restaurant and Music Hall), where one half of the group (Mike Folk) will be joined on stage by live drummer Matthias Sayour, performance dancer Sami Te' and projection mapped stage by Vision Arts LAb – truly a performance not to be missed. In this interview, members Daniel Merrill and Mike Folk (one of XAVL's co-organizers) talk music, X culture, and what to expect from Aligning Minds in the near future.
